Maple syrup, clementine, sweet spice
We have carefully handcrafted an espresso blend that we believe encapsulates the aromas and flavours of The Sweet Life!
La Dulce Vida harmonises premium Colombian and Brazilian beans with a gem from Nicaragua. In the cup, there are flavours of maple syrup, milk chocolate and sweet spice with a juicy clementine acidity.
We aim to embrace La Dulce Vida in the little things we see, places we go and company we share. We hope you do too 🐻
40% Colombia Ubaque Washed Castillo & Typica
Located at the foothills of the Guayacundo and San Pedro in the Cundinamarca Department, Ubaque is a region rich in biodiversity, plentiful rainfall and fertile soils. The name comes from a native flora’s red sap Ybaquye meaning ‘blood of wood’ and the area was ruled by the indigenous Chief Ebaque of the Musica Civilization. Legend has it that no conquering was done without a rich and smooth brew in the morning. Our Ubaque is comprised from the fruit of 43 families that share around 50 hectares of shaded Castillo and Typica varietals. The fruit is fully washed then sun dried on patios. We source this coffee from Cofinet; a family-run grower and producer in Colombia. During last years harvest we visited Felipe, Ana and Cristobal from Cofinet at their farm to cup some amazing coffees and see their sustainability practices first hand. We also gained an insight into their expertise, diligence and processing innovation they use to create truly spectacular coffees.
What it brings: Floral, silky and smooth with notes of milk chocolate, vanilla bean and citrus in a syrupy finish.
40% Brazil Serra da Mantiqueira Natural Yellow Bourbon & Catuai
One of the most awarded regions in Brazil, the Serra da Mantiqueira (Mantiqueira Mountains) lies to the south of the state of Minas Gerais. This coffee is comprised of lots from a selection of small-scale farms in the region. We source this coffee from the Cocarive Cooperative based in Carmo de Minas, at the foothills of the mountains. When we visited Cocarive in 2016 we were introduced to to the farmers responsible for this consistently top quality coffee and ever since cupping it at origin we’ve featured it as a stand-alone single and used it as an integral component in our blends.
What it brings: Deliciously sweet and well rounded with notes of delicate plum + dark chocolate mud cake. Full Bodied with mild acidity through to a cocoa, malt + almond finish.
20% Nicaragua Jinotega and Matagalpa Washed F1 Clonal Hybrid
This unique hybrid of East African and Latin American varietals truly flourishes in the highlands of Nicaragua. Referred to by local coffee producers as a “diamond” for its precious qualities in the cup, these beans come from Nicaragua’s Jinotega and Matagalpa departments where the ideal climate and rich soil meet to create the perfect environment for the distinctive flavours to fully develop. We visited Nicaragua in May this year to find bountiful coffee growing regions and friendly farmers who consistently produce great coffees amidst very trying political and civil unrest.
