ABOUT ME
When we asked Patio Bonito's Paola Trujillo what she hopes people feel when drinking this amazing lot, her answer captured it perfectly:
“The Wush Wush reflects curiosity and joy. It is a coffee that evolves in the cup, inviting you to slow down, to explore, and to discover new layers as it cools - much like the landscape it comes from, diverse and constantly unfolding.”
We’re super excited to feature not one, but two incredible coffees from this world-class producer - this full-tilt natural Wush Wush as well as a beautiful syrupy Bourbon Aji - two intensely expressive coffees that show just how far Finca Patio Bonito is willing to go in pursuit of quality.

Patio Bonito is a family-run farm in Caldono, Cauca, led by Carlos Arturo Trujillo, who has been growing coffee for nearly 50 years. Today, he works alongside his wife Angela and daughters Patricia & Paola Trujillo, the latter's return to the farm in 2022 marking a new chapter - one defined by refined fermentation, careful experimentation, and an uncompromising focus on flavour and quality.
About the Wush Wush Varietal
Wush Wush is a rare and highly expressive coffee variety, named after the Wushwush area of southwest Ethiopia near Jimma and Sidamo. Like many Ethiopian native varieties, it’s valued for its aromatic intensity, layered sweetness, and distinctive flavour profile.
Naturally low-yielding and demanding to grow, Wush Wush has never been about volume. Instead, it appeals to quality-focused producers willing to invest in precision farming and careful processing. The variety arrived in South America roughly 30 years ago and has found a natural home in Colombia, where altitude, climate, and producer expertise allow it to reach its full potential.
In the cup, Wush Wush is unapologetically expressive. It’s known for remarkable sweetness, vivid fruit character and a silky, enveloping mouthfeel, often leaning into confectionary berry notes, florals and layered acidity - particularly when processed naturally. When handled well, it delivers coffees that are bold yet refined, exuberant yet controlled.
This lot has layers of strawberry confit, soft rosehip and hibiscus unfolding to a red currant jelly sweetness, rich and syrupy in texture. It has a complex, luminous acidity which brings lift and definition, before settling into a long, polished milk-chocolate finish.
Huge thank you to the Trujillo's for trusting us with this exceptional lot. Wush Wush is a rare and remarkable varietal, and in this natural expression it’s shown at full stretch. If you’re curious about the outer edges of flavour and what modern Colombian coffee can achieve, this is one you don’t want to miss!
